Island Whisper Atelier, a Singapore-based creative studio founded by Spanish designer Mónica Rodríguez, is bringing a contemporary approach to one of Spain’s most iconic accessories: the hand fan.
The studio creates bespoke luxury hand fans for hotels, restaurants, events and brand experiences, transforming each piece through original artwork, natural wood, engraving and carefully considered finishes.
Rather than working from a fixed catalogue, every Island Whisper project begins with the individual client, property or destination. Architecture, landscapes, local botanicals, colours and cultural references can all inspire the final design.
“We don’t simply add a logo to an existing product,” says Rodríguez. “The destination itself becomes part of the design.”
The approach is attracting growing interest from Saudi Arabia, Oman and the wider Middle East, where craftsmanship, personalisation and distinctive guest experiences are increasingly important within luxury hospitality.
For a Saudi property, inspiration might come from its architecture, desert landscapes, palm trees or geometric details, creating a piece that feels connected to its surroundings while retaining the elegance and craftsmanship of the traditional Spanish fan.
The hand fan remains Island Whisper Atelier’s signature piece as the studio expands into bespoke hospitality gifting and guest experiences internationally.
