Tashkent, February 11, 2026, SPA — The Uzbek capital, Tashkent, hosted the fifth session of the “Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud International Linguistic Training Program: Arabic Language in Central Asia,” implemented by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in partnership with the Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Foundation, and in cooperation with the ICESCO Regional Office in Baku and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. The session was held from February 10 to 12, 2026.
The program opened with an official reception hosted by the administration of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, which included a tour of the university and an overview of its history, as well as an expanded meeting to discuss prospects for academic cooperation. The event was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Uzbekistan Saad bin Nasser Abu Haimed, along with several officials from the concerned parties.
The three-day training program was attended by more than 40 professors and postgraduate students specializing in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. It included four specialized workshops presented by ICESCO Representative Dr. Adham Hamawiya, focusing on modern trends in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers and the key challenges facing the field in Uzbekistan.
The program concluded with a closing session that included the presentation of the final report and recommendations, reflecting the growing interest in learning Arabic across Central Asian countries.
