  • Kumulus Water, a startup launched in 2021 between France and Tunisia, has raised $3.5 million in a seed round to scale its off-grid water production technology.
  • The round was backed by Bpifrance (via France 2030 SGPI and the Île-de-France Region), regional VCs like PlusVC, Khalys Venture, Flat6Labs, and Spadel, alongside several family offices and startup founders from Europe and North Africa.
  • Founded by Iheb Triki and Mohamed Ali Abid, Kumulus designs atmospheric water generators that extract drinking water from air humidity without the need for infrastructure—ideal for underserved areas.
  • The company will use the new funding to roll out the Kumulus Boks, a new line of industrial-scale machines, and deepen its operations in France, Spain, and Tunisia, while preparing to enter Saudi Arabia.

Press release:

Tunisia-based WaterTech startup Kumulus Water, which turns air into safe drinking water, has closed a $3.5 million seed funding round to accelerate the development of its atmospheric water generation technology and support expansion into key markets, including France, Spain, and Saudi Arabia.

The round saw participation from Bpifrance (through France 2030 SGPI and Île-de-France Region), PlusVC, Khalys Venture, Flat6Labs, several European and North African family offices, and European bottled water leader Spadel. The new funds will support the launch of the Kumulus Boks line—high-capacity, off-grid water units designed for industrial and community use.

Founded in 2021 by Iheb Triki and Mohamed Ali Abid, Kumulus Water builds self-contained Atmospheric Water Generators (AWGs) that operate without existing water or electricity infrastructure. The company has already deployed units in schools, hotels, and remote communities across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East—offering a climate-resilient solution to global water scarcity.
