Chicago, August 12, 2026, SPA — Severe storms left more than half a million people without power in the Chicago area and northwestern Indiana on Tuesday, bringing dark skies and strong winds. All flights were temporarily suspended late Tuesday morning at Chicago’s two main airports. The National Weather Service in Chicago described the storms as “dangerous.”
